The HKLN Drug Strategy Launches New Report and Infographics. “A Situational Assessment of the Four Pillar Approach to Addressing the Drug Poisoning Crisis in the County of Haliburton, City of Kawartha Lakes and Northumberland County”.
Our Vision
The Haliburton, Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland (HKLN) Drug Strategy strives for supportive and safe environments that promote the health and resiliency of individuals, families, and communities, and reduce the harms and stigma associated with substance use.
The purpose of the Haliburton, Kawartha Lakes, Northumberland (HKLN) Drug Strategy is to facilitate a collaborative, evidence-based approach to minimize the risks and harms associated with substance use in the County of Haliburton, City of Kawartha Lakes, and Northumberland County, including Alderville First Nation.
A drug strategy is a shared effort to mitigate harms related to substance use in a community. Across Ontario more than 40 drug strategies have been implemented to respond to substance use-related harms and issues faced by people with lived and living experience, community members, service providers and health care systems. Currently there is no Provincial Government funding provided to coordinate this work.
In April 2023, the HKLN Drug Strategy adopted the Drug Strategy Network of Ontario’s Solutions to End the Drug Poisoning Crisis in Ontario: Choosing a New Direction as a framework to guide their work.
